A Big Change in Basketball

Would you rather watch an NBA game from the 1950’s or in the 2022-23 season? You may think the games would be the same, but the game has changed a lot over time. One major change in the NBA since it began is the total number of points scored during a game. At the start of the NBA in 1950, the average score was 79.5 points per game, but in the year 2022 it was 114.2 points per game. One reason is that NBA players now are more skilled, faster and stronger, so basically more athletic, and this has helped players score more. Another major reason is that the rules of the game have changed. The 3 point line was added in 1979, therefore, players can score more points now. Another difference is the addition of And1s, which if you get a shooting foul then you get a chance for an extra point from the free throw line, which gives players another chance to earn 3 points. I personally would rather watch a 1950 game, so I can see differences between a 1950 basketball game and a 2022 basketball game in person.
